The dating app market is saturated with low-quality, swipe-based experiences. Vybes needed to differentiate with a premium, intentional dating experience that prioritizes real connections over endless swiping. The challenge was building a platform that feels exclusive while being technically robust enough to handle real-time video calling, ID verification, and event management.

Conducted extensive user research with 200+ singles in the target demographic to understand pain points with existing dating apps
Designed a FaceTime-first matching flow that requires 15-minute video calls before messaging — forcing genuine interaction

What we built
We built Vybes as a cross-platform mobile app using React Native with a Node.js backend. The app features real-time WebRTC video calling, document verification via AI, push notifications, and a sophisticated event management system.
